Drop Box

Who needs a flash drive when you can use Drop Box? Let me explain how it works..

Right now I have Drop Box installed on three of my computers; my home PC, my laptop, and my work PC. Drop Box is basically just a folder that I can put anywhere I like. The catch is that whenever I add a file to Drop Box (from any PC) it automatically syncs to a server off on the internet. Say I'm at home and I save a homework assignment into my Drop Box, the next time I use my work PC or laptop the file is automatically retrieved from that server and sync'd to the new computer. The concept sounds nice, but you don't realize how amazing it is until you start using it. You have a folder that will be sync'd accross the board to multiple computers, and better yet you have a copy of important data in case of a computer failure.

If that weren't enough, Drop Box offers 2 GB of free storage for your folder and that can be increased by inviting your friends to join. They give out a decent chunk of bandwidth too. Within your dropbox is a folder called 'public'. Any file put into this folder is available for ftp downloads for your friends. All you have to do is right click on the item, get the URL link, and send it off to the lucky friend. Drop Box is free, and I suggest you try it out. You can find it here.
