LAN Party Weekend!

Over the past few months myself and some friends from work have held local LAN parties. I've been a gamer since I was a little kid and played many online games during my teen years. However, nothing really compares to the experience of the classic LAN party. When your buddy frags you and he's within arms reach to hit, it's a great feeling. Tomorrow's LAN party is scheduled to be held at my humble (aka small) apartment. So, everyone playing will be very close for punching! I wanted to make a post about what games we have been playing and why. I'd also like to ask for suggestions and tell you what games I am looking forward to playing in the future.

ur3

Unreal Tournament 3

When it comes to fast paced, brainless, and bloody action you can't go wrong with Unreal Tournament. The learning curve is small and the action is high. This game guarantees a frag fest that can get everyone on the edge of their seat. I once stayed up close to 48 hours playing a variant of Unreal at a LAN party at N.I.U. Good times!

warcraft3

Warcraft III

I know what you are thinking, "Ewww! That game is freaking old!" Nay I say! How old do you think the game of Chess is? I'll tell you how old it is. A lot freaking older than Warcraft III. Let's face it, it's a classic and that's why we play it. Well, that and the fact that everyone seemed to have it readily available. Games like Warcraft and Starcraft are good ones that won't go away... until Starcraft II is released! Warcraft III is a good fantasy RTS game. You build a base, breed a hero, and go toe to toe with your foes. Be careful, the computer is amazingly good.

bf2

Battlefield 2

I won't lie, I hate the battlefield 2 client. I don't think I've had a game bug out on me and crash unexpectedly ever before. Despite this, the game is a fun tactical military style shooter. You can pick different weapon sets and have to work together with teammates to get the job done. If you want a more realistic type shooter, give this one a try. This was a good choice for our LAN parties as Best Buy was selling it for only $10. So, now we all have a copy!

SC2

Starcraft 2

This one hasn't been released yet. It seems like I've been waiting for this game for an eternity. It's predecessor, Starcraft, has been out since 1998 and I still think it's a fun game to play. This game should be awesome... nothing is better than battling civilizations for the take over of a universe.

So.. these are the games that we play and I've mentioned one game that I am looking forward to playing in the future. If you have ever been a part of any LAN parties, do you have any suggested games for us to tryout?
